The Last Loud Week of Summer: Alexisonfire, Violent Femmes and a Cosmic Country Detour

Then Friday, August 14, the calendar just gives up on the concept of one show a night. Violent Femmes with 54-40 headline Terminal B — the folk-punk institution doing folk-punk things by the water. Simultaneously, up in the gorge, Turnpike Troubadours bring their red-dirt Americana to Artpark's amphitheater. And if you want it small and local, The Trash Pandas play Buffalo Iron Works at 8 p.m. in the Cobblestone District. Three genuinely good options, one Friday, no way to do all three — the best kind of Buffalo problem.
There's a through-line worth clocking at Terminal B this week, too: it plays like a low-key Canadian invasion. Alexisonfire on Wednesday, 54-40 riding shotgun with the Femmes on Friday, and Saturday, August 15, Arkells headlining the Outer Harbor — an anthemic rock band that treats a big outdoor stage like a birthright. With the Peace Bridge basically visible from the grounds, the cross-border energy isn't a coincidence; it's geography doing promotion.
The series lands the plane Sunday, August 16, with The Concert: A Tribute to ABBA at Terminal B — glitter, singalongs, and the closing note on this run of waterfront shows.
