Behind the frozen-drink circuit and the amphitheater marquees, the Alabama Gulf Coast keeps a quieter, deeper roster of genuine songwriters — and few embody it like Grayson Capps. A New Orleans-forged, Fairhope-based storyteller who relocated to the Alabama side of Mobile Bay after Hurricane Katrina, Capps has spent two decades writing the kind of literate, whiskey-cured Southern narratives that get him called a regional treasure by people who don't throw the phrase around.

He is not a stranger to these towns. His 2026 calendar includes Gulf Shores dates at The Sloop and an upcoming September 26 show at Big Beach Brewing in Gulf Shores (Bandsintown; Songkick) — small rooms, the kind where you can hear every word of the wordplay.
