Mid-August Marching Orders: DelGuidice and Matisyahu at the Paramount, Deep Purple on the Beach
The festival dust has settled, the emo kids have gone back to work, and the Island's live-music week reorganizes itself around two poles: the marquee in Huntington and the amphitheater over the water. Here's your mid-August itinerary, Aug 12 through 16, with the loud stuff bolded so you can plan around your softball league.
Start on the beach. Deep Purple play Northwell at Jones Beach Theater on Wednesday, Aug 12 (7:30 PM) — yes, the "Smoke on the Water" gods, playing an amphitheater with the ocean at their backs, which is about as on-brand as a riff can get. The very next night, Thursday, Aug 13, country's fast-rising Zach Top takes the same Jones Beach stage (7:00 PM) — a hard tonal pivot from British hard rock to neo-traditional twang, but that's a summer week on Long Island for you.
Then head inland to Huntington, where the Paramount runs a three-night stretch that's basically a mixtape of the Island's taste. Thursday, Aug 14 — Mike DelGuidice, "The Residency Continues" (8:00 PM). DelGuidice is Long Island to the marrow: a Billy Joel band member and hometown hero whose Paramount residency has become a local institution. If you want to understand this place, watch a Huntington crowd sing Joel songs back at a guy from the Joel band. Friday, Aug 15 — Matisyahu, Summer Tour 2026 (8:00 PM), bringing the reggae-and-beatbox catharsis. Saturday, Aug 16 — Rene Vaca (7:30 PM, 18+), closing the week with the corridos-and-guitar movement that's been filling rooms across the country.
The beach isn't done, either. Saturday, Aug 16 also brings "Beatstock" to Jones Beach (5:30 PM), with Deborah Cox and Treach — a genuine old-school throwdown out on the barrier island. Note for the comedy crowd: Sebastian Maniscalco plays Jones Beach on Aug 14 and 15, which is a great night out but, for our purposes, not music — I mention it only so you don't show up expecting a band.
Logistics, briefly. Doors, openers and support acts weren't fully spelled out in what we've got, so with each venue before you leave the house. Jones Beach means the causeway and paid parking; budget the extra half hour so you're not sprinting across the sand during the first song.
That's the shape of it: two nights of legends and rising country on the sand, three nights of Long Island's own range at the Paramount, and a Beatstock chaser to close the window. The clubs may be quiet this stretch, but the big rooms are carrying the load like they were built to. Gas up. Bring cash for the lot. Go.
