The Best Show in Farmingdale Is the Street Itself: "Music on Main" Returns
Here's a radical idea for a summer night: leave the wallet mostly closed, walk down the middle of Main Street, and let four stages of live bands come to you. That's the whole premise of Farmingdale's "Music on Main," back for summer 2026 and running every other Thursday from July 9 through August 20 — free admission, run by the Farmingdale BID, with downtown itself doing the work a ticketed venue usually charges you for.
The engine of the night is The Nutty Irishman at 323 Main St, whose Main Stage and Back Stage both host bands, but the genius of the format is that it spills out across multiple stages so the whole strip hums at once. Take opening night, Thursday, July 9: Main Stage gets Hot Date, the Back Stage gets Off The Hook, the LI McGrath's Stage brings island-party staples Jimmy and the Parrots, and the Alibi Stage hosts Blink 180 Who — a Blink-182 tribute for the pop-punk nostalgists. It keeps rolling all summer on the same every-other-Thursday cadence. July 23 — while the whole county is eyeing the Great South Bay festival up the road — Farmingdale answers with Radio Riot on the Main Stage, Super Bad on the Back Stage, Krush at LI McGrath's and Down The Rabbit Hole at the Alibi. August 6 brings Nicolls Road to the Main Stage, the Lucky Stiffs to the Back Stage, Tradewinds to LI McGrath's and the Jetty Sniffers to the Alibi. The series runs through August 20 to close things out.
