Over in Laramie, the college-town summer stays quieter until the students return, but the downtown circuit keeps a pulse — Coal Creek TAP and the Grand Avenue bars remain the reliable spots for a weekend pint and whoever's picking that night. It's not arena country. It's the connective, low-stakes live music that actually keeps a scene warm between the big swings.

Why it matters: the weeks right after a giant festival are the ones that reveal whether a town has a music scene or just a music event. Anybody can sell out Frontier Park in July. Filling The Lincoln for a cowboy-grunge band in early August is the harder, more meaningful trick — and it's the metric worth watching.
