Executive Surf Club has been slinging live music and beer on North Chaparral since 1990 and isn't going anywhere.
For a night that's baseball first and music second, Whataburger Field — home of the Double-A Hooks — hosts pregame and postgame concerts through the summer between innings of Astros prospects.
A little context for newcomers: Texas certified Corpus Christi as a Music Friendly Texas community, a state designation meant to help local artists actually get paid. And yes, old-timers will bring up Bayfest, the bayfront festival that ran for decades before folding in the 2010s — it's history now, not a date on your calendar, so don't let anyone sell you a ticket to it.
Why does any of this matter? Because a scene this spread out — arena, amphitheater, three ice-house rooms, a ballpark, a 116-year-old dive — only holds together if people actually show up across town instead of waiting for the one big arena night.
