Boot Barn Hall Is Gone. Long Live Phil Long Music Hall.
If you drove past the north-side supper-club-with-a-stage this summer and did a double take at the marquee, you weren't imagining it. The room Colorado Springs spent five years learning to call Boot Barn Hall is now Phil Long Music Hall at Bourbon Brothers — same seated sightlines, same steak-and-a-show DNA, new name over the door.
The rebrand landed in late 2024 as a naming-rights partnership between Phil Long Dealerships, the ubiquitous local auto group, and VENU, the Colorado Springs–born live-entertainment company (you know its other local project: the 8,000-seat Ford Amphitheater up the road). "This partnership is about more than just a name; it's about creating a place where music and community come together," said JW Roth, VENU's founder, chairman and CEO. Kevin Shaughnessy, president and CEO of Phil Long Dealerships, framed it as civic infrastructure: "We are proud to have Phil Long Music Hall be a vibrant gathering space that enriches lives."
Corporate marquee-swaps usually earn an eye-roll from the alt-weekly desk. This one earns a shrug of approval, because the booking has kept its lane. Where the Black Sheep sweats and Sunshine Studios roars, Phil Long trades on comfort: assigned-ish seating, food and drink at the table, and a calendar tuned to audiences who want a great band and a chair to enjoy it from.
Look at the summer sheet. July brings the BoDeans (July 10) and, per local listings, a country double of Jamestown Revival and Drake White in the back half of the month. Then August tips fully into the tribute-and-throwback comfort zone the room does best: Dueling Pianos (Aug 14), the Led Zeppelin tribute Ten Years Gone (Aug 15), an AC/DC tribute in Thunderstruck (Aug 19), a Beatles-vs-Stones mashup night (Aug 22), and — the genuine catch — swing revivalists Big Bad Voodoo Daddy on Aug 28.
Why it matters: a healthy music town needs range, and range means rooms that aren't the Black Sheep. Not every great night is a standing-room cult show; some are a well-mic'd tribute band and a table for four. Phil Long Music Hall has quietly become the place that serves that appetite without apology — and in a scene this dense, specialization is a feature, not a compromise.
New name, familiar promise: bring your parents, bring your appetite, keep your seat.
